In 1984, Hobson’s Polygraph Service was initially established as
a part-time business in San Luis Obispo, California. Larry Hobson was employed
full time as a Detective and polygraph examiner at the San Luis Obispo County
Sheriff’s Department. During his off-duty hours he administered pre-employment
polygraph screening examinations to applicants applying for employment with law
enforcement agencies, in addition to specific issue polygraph examinations to
individuals where there was not a conflict of interest with his law enforcement
duties.
In December 2005, after working 35 years in the Criminal Justice System, Larry
Hobson retired as the Assistant Chief Investigator and Chief Polygraph Examiner
at the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office. Click here to review

officer and polygraph examiner.
After his retirement from law enforcement, Larry Hobson continued to work, but
this time as a full time private polygraph examiner. He developed Hobson’s
Polygraph Service into a very successful polygraph business known throughout
California, but mostly serving the central California area.
In August 2009, Larry Hobson left California and moved to Colorado to be closer
to his family. He re-established Hobson’s Polygraph Service in Fort Collins,
Colorado, where he now offers a variety of polygraph testing services to the
following:
- To defense attorneys with clients suspected of criminal activity or to private attorneys attempting to resolve issues in civil cases.
- To law enforcement agencies for the testing of persons identified as suspects in criminal activities or to verify witness statements.
- To law enforcement agencies for the pre-employment testing of applicants applying for employment as law enforcement officers.
- To parole agents to help supervise and manage individuals convicted of serious criminal acts that have been released from state prison on parole.
- To probation officers to help supervise and manage individuals convicted for serious criminal acts that have been released from state prison or the county jail on probation.

- To the general public to resolve personal family issues, relationship problems, or suspicions of infidelity.
- To any individual or group with a need to determine the truth.
The cost of a polygraph examination depends upon the type of test
administered. All fees will be discussed and disclosed before the polygraph is
scheduled and collected before the examination is conducted. This procedure
eliminates any suggestion of bias from those who might question the result of
the examination. Cancellations may be made up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled
examination with no financial penalty. All examinations cancelled or postponed
within 24 hours of the examination will be billed at a discount rate. No shows
will be charged full price.
